For the first time this year, we had a participation in the events of “Return of Odysseus” from a High school in Barcelona.

In particular, at the Institut Ventura Gassol, Ancient Greek Professor Concepcion Hernandez, with her students, recited the ninth Rhapsody of the Odyssey on three consecutive days, which includes the first part of Odysseus’ narration in front of the Phaeacians of his ten-year journey.
The teacher knows Greek quite well, which she learned at the Center of Greek Language and Culture “Alexander the Great”, which has been the main supporter of our actions since the beginning of our efforts.
Here are the first verses of the first Rhapsody in Ancient Greek and Spanish:
- Άνδρα μοι ἔννεπε, μοῦσα, πολύτροπον, ὃς μάλα
πολλὰ
πλάγχθη, ἐπεὶ Τροίης ἱερὸν πτολίεθρον ἔπερσεν
πολλῶν δ ̓ ἀνθρώπων ἴδεν ἄστεα καὶ νόον ἔγνω
- Canta ¡ oh Musa ! aquel héroe siempre varia
Sagaz, astuto y en ardid fecund,
Que habiendo ya los muros abatido
De la sagrada Troya; por mil pueblos
Errante anduvo y prófugo, estudiando
Sus índoles sus usos y sus leyes
